Your guides to adventure, Jen and Mike

Untamed Path offers quality, fun and active learning adventures, which lead to a greater understanding of South American cultures while supporting conservation of wild places. Through travel we have the opportunity to expand our world perspective and come to a better understanding of our sense of place on this beautiful and diverse planet. Upon our return home from travel, we have the power to influence others through our excitement, photos and stories using this broadened world-view as a medium to affect consumer and investment choices. Respectfully leaving the well-trodden tourist path and seeking learning experiences creates opportunities for meaningful experiences and interactions.

We recognize that travel to remote places is not without impact on a landscape or a culture. For this reason Untamed Path trips always have local guides and staff who also support our enthusiasm and commitment to this type of travel. In this day and age of great change on our planet, it is crucial when we do travel that the type of travel we do supports our values and ethics. Untamed Path supports various grass roots education, cultural appreciation and land conservation projects in Ecuador and Bolivia through contribution of our time and profits. By traveling with Untamed Path you too will be expressing your support for this value.

"First I want to throw some flowers your way. I don't think I have EVER had better service and guidance from any enterprise of any sort at any time. So kudos to you and your team. I certainly will be back in touch for my next trip.
Thank you!"

We can't thank you enough, Jen, for all of your good work. The information you gave us was comprehensive, useful, and accurate in the extreme. We feel very fortunate to have found you!

What Makes A Trip With Untamed Path So Unique?

Group Size: Our small group sizes allow us to travel more freely and intimately within the fragile cultures and eco-systems of rural South America while minimizing our impact on the people and wildlife who live there.

Where We travel: Our adventures go to places that are remote and well off of the beaten path. We offer adventures in Ecuador (including Galapagos), Bolivia and Peru because we are in love with the Andean and Amazon cultures that are still intact there and the wide expanses of open space teeming with birds and other wildlife.

What We Do There: Because we are active, adventurous people we run active, adventurous vacations ranging from very comfortable to roughing it and everything in-between, all designed to match your unique needs. All of our trips are participatory and involve varying degrees of travel by foot. From walks, hikes and snorkeling in the Galapagos or paddling in the rainforest to trekking trips in the highlands, join us for the best of South America!

Your Fellow Travelers: We offer a wide range of trips of different difficulty and comfort levels so that people of similar interests and fitness levels can travel together. Some of our guests have had extensive travel experience with a values and ethics-driven operator like Untamed Path and others are new to this type of travel. Many of our clients are used to traveling independently but would like to have the trip planning assistance of an operator like Untamed Path who has in-depth experience in order to get the most out of their trip.

Untamed Path has been leading high quality adventures in South America since 1999. Our background as owners is that we have over 35 years of extensive combined experience leading groups in wild places around the world. As professional guides we have led clients in all kinds of environments: hiking, climbing, skiing, mountaineering, rafting, kayaking, canoeing and biking. As educators we have taught all imaginable subjects related to the outdoors including: leave no trace camping, navigation, first aid, natural history, weather, etc. Our many years working as guides gives us a unique perspective when formulating itineraries in the places where we run trips. Our team of local guides in South America are the best trained and most experienced available.
