Trip Overview
Fly in to a small dirt landing strip in the middle of the Amazon and continue downstream by canoe for several days. Camp on beaches along the way and do side hikes in search of wildlife. Learn from your local native guides about a rapidly disappearing way of life in tune with the forest rhythms. Going deep into the rainforest can be hot, sweaty, muddy, and generally challenging, but the rewards are well worth it!

Day 3 – Travel to Rainforest / Begin journey down-river
Take off into the Amazon wilds in a small 5- 9 seat Cessna airplane. Land at a remote landing strip in the middle of the jungle, deplane and head directly to the canoe to head down river to this evening’s camping spot.
Days 4-9 – Explore the Amazon via Canoe
Days 4-9 – Explore the Amazon via Canoe
Full days in search of wildlife and medicinal plants. Traveling by dugout canoe and foot. There is almost no human infrastructure in this region. No zip lines, no rafting, no canopy towers. There are just miles upon kilometers of uncharted rainforest to explore. There are indigenous people living subsistence lifestyles in this region but you will be traveling well beyond the areas of civilization. You may stop and visit one or two small villages as you travel downriver, and spend one night camping in a village.
Day 10 – Finish down-river journey / Fly to Civilization

After a short (1-2 hour) canoe ride further downriver, arrive at a military airbase where the same Cessna that brought you in to the jungle awaits to take you back out. Fly 1 hour to the original airport, then 4-5 hour drive back to Quito.

This is another essential buffer day in case there are any weather delays getting out of the jungle. In that remote case, you would spend this night at the military base mentioned on day 10 and hope for better weather tomorrow!
